Saverio Tonoli & Nona Schmidt
The CUT IN focuses on glass paintings and collage. It is a project, which takes its inspiration from the old leaded windows and investigates new installation possibilities – interacting with architecture and the exhibition space.
Saverio Tonoli was born in 1984 in Lucca, Italy. He studied painting at the Fine Arts Academy of Brera, Milan and at the Fine Arts Academy, Salamanca. He lives and works in Berlin. In his painting practice, he crosses different styles, using a range of techniques including monotype prints, brushwork, paper restoration techniques, and collage. From his early practice in the darkroom, he has drawn from water-based behaviour, acid and light effects, and together with his knowledge of digital photographic images, he has translated these processes over the years into painting.
Nona Schmidt was born in West Berlin in 1986. She studied Product Design and did her Master in Design and Media at the „university of applied science and arts“ in Hannover. Since 2013, she lives in Berlin working as a freelance Communication Designer. In collaborations with different groups, her works float between corporate design, animation, graphics and illustration. Her design approach between analogue and digital collage is inspired by combinations of materials like textile, painted paper and cardboard – so as glass.
